Own-account distribution needs ASN-level inbound, wave picking, yard control and carrier close-out in one product. Multi-site operators need the same spine in every building, not a different WMS per site.
The operation
- Inbound that matches the trailer — POs, ASNs, QC, unexpected stock and compliance — not a goods-in screen that hopes the paper is right.
- The yard is not a whiteboard — Doors, appointments, vehicle checks and load verification belong in the WMS the pickers already use.
- Waves have to survive the shift — Pick jobs, pack stations, manifests and exceptions in one pipeline — including when the order profile changes.
