3PLs need multi-client inventory, a portal the customer can use, billing that matches the contract, and integrations that do not start a six-month project for every new shipper.
The operation
- Many owners, one building — Stock, orders and billing must be scoped to the client. A retail WMS with a login bolted on will leak or lie.
- New clients cannot wait — Rules, locations and integrations have to be configurable. You cannot fork the WMS for each contract.
- The client wants visibility, not a dock seat — A portal for inventory, inbound, outbound and billing — white-labelled — without giving the shipper the door board.
- Incorrect billing is lost revenue — Storage and handling have to come from the same operation that ran the work, not a month-end reconstruction.
